Implant designs and connections have changed the how dental implants are being inserted and restored. Manufacturers are constantly changing their surfaces and design features in the quest to obtain more BIC and to rapid osseointegration. Can these features produce detrimental effects long term or are these stable interfaces to maintain bone levels.
This presentation will highlight the various factors that precipitate mucositis that often leads to periimplantitis. Techniques to decontaminate the implant surfaces with lasers, chemical agents and growth factors will be elaborated. Follow ups of various periimplantitis management will be compared and an algorithm illustrated to help the implant practitioner decide on strategies to prevent these complications and help maintain ailing implants.
